Prison Ministry in Steuben County Jail

Eucharist is offered at the Steuben County Jail each month, and it’s offered to both men and women. The jail allows small groups at a time to participate. Hence each volunteer sees up to 4 groups (up to 42 people total) in one visit. The jail does not allow Catholics to attend services, only those registered as non-Catholic. Catholic inmates have their own separate mass. Copies of the devotional booklet, “Found Day by Day”, are delivered to the jail as well.

There is strong interest in the Christ Church congregation that supports this ministry. They are looking at ways to expand this ministry by increased involvement in re-entry.
